about

After a glut of lively, cabalistic releases on labels such as La Belle and Omni international, Lithuanian duo Roe Deers take their esoteric sound to Bird of Paradise’s growing imprint ‘Sulk Magic’. Two original cuts are underpinned with worthy remixes from acid savant Timothy Clerkin and York based newcomer tecwaa.

‘Go’ starts proceedings and is beaming with 80’s sentiment. Italo influenced arpeggios, manipulated vocals and unsparing percussion intensifies throughout, before the unsteady and wonderfully eccentric title track ‘It Takes Two’ comes to the fore.

Timothy Clerkin then blurs the lines between techno and electro with his intense and devilishly dark take on ‘Go’, a modest contrast to tecwaas atmospheric and downright wistful contribution, consisting of a cascade of melodic lines unfolding slowly over a bumpy break.
