about

After releasing on labels including Correspondant, Have a Killer Time and Clouded Vision Records, Jo Howard aka Bird of Paradise has decided to launch his own imprint, Sulk Magic, to showcase music from himself and similarly musically aligned artists.

The debut Sulk Magic One see's five cuts of left field dance music, joined together by nothing other than their disregard for tropes or forms.

Lithuania's Roe Deers begin proceedings with a slice of dark Acid Disco, before Al Gobi (Ian Blevins and Phill Moody as previously seen on Culprit and Disco Bloodbath) take us on a glam rock influenced detour into melodic Techno.

There's little information available on the mysterious Obb Globelyn, but their contribution sees the compilation take an even more unexpected turn, with their ethnically infused slice of organic micro house.

Stoves 'Mr Mutu's Final Flight' begins as a doom laden piece of minimal chug, but slowly blossoms in to an energetic and exciting piece of techno that belies its slow tempo.

Quite fittingly Bird of Paradise, working with KGBK, provide the final cut on the record, lending a signature drum sound to a piece of hybrid music that deftly pairs left field techno, with an 80's sensibility in the vein of Severed Heads.
